Art Institutes logo Instructor in Interactive and Web Design, Art Institute of California, Los Angeles, and Art Institute Online (AIO) 2001-Present: Developed classes for Interactive Media Design (IMD) including web design, web-based programming (PHP/MySQL and ASP.NET) and Second Life.  Helped to develop new California Curriculum for the Web and Interactive Design program including virtual worlds, design for social networking sites, and Web 2.0 technologies including Ajax , mobile Android/iPhone development.

Chief Technology Officer, Indiespace 1994-Present: Designed and constructed over 1000 mini-websites within pioneering entertainment portal. Designed websites for over 30 major web hosting clients in music, film and entertainment industry. Implemented Internet/web technology including HTML, JavaScript, HTML 4, HTML 5, streaming video, C++, PHP, ASP.NET, Perl/CGI, Object-C, Apache, Sendmail, Intershop e-commerce system, and MySQL Installed and configured Internet/web servers running under Windows NT, Sun OS/Solaris, BSDi Unix, and Red Hat Linux.

 

Webmaster, Santa Monica College (SMC) 1997-2000:  Designed all SMC websites (http://www.smc.edu), providing web design, content lifecycle maintenance, quality testing, and support. Setup of Windows NT IIS/4 web servers, programmed (Perl) support for faculty/staff homepage area and online discussion boards. Installed and programmed WebCT courseware, advised IT department on web server hardware/software purchases. Installed server languages PHP, ASP, and mySQL databases. Implemented WebTrends reporting software and analyzed results. Developed campus-wide strategy for web content updates. Advised IT staff on integration of Macintosh, Windows, Unix systems in a mixed computing environment.

 

Web Development & Infrastructure Consultant 1994-present: Web development, hardware/software support, and network solutions for arts and entertainment clients including American Recordings, J. Paul Getty Center for the Arts, Bell Industries, A&M Records, and Bell Microproducts. Administered web hosting services for Radioactive Records, France Online, Stonegarden Records, and UltimateTV. Installation of hardware, software, routers, and leased lines for local Internet Service Provider Brand X Internet. Analyzed web traffic analysis using WebTrends, Analog, Webalizer.

Helped developed proposals for Evolvent to develop virtual worlds in Second Life. Client was a branch of the US government.

 

Second Life Developer/Educator 2006-Present: Developed online classes within the 3D virtual world of Second Life. In collaboration with the Art Institute Online (AIO). Developed strategy for creating an educational presence within Second Life. Member of AIO team that created the Art Institute’s Island in Second Life. Programmed scripted objects using Linden Scripting Language (LSL) within Second Life.

Game Engine Programmer 2005-Present: Developed software for 2.5D Flash-based games, as well as fully 3D environments implementing OpenGL and DirectX. Program “SLMap” demonstrates integration of accurate planet and star simulations in the context of game environments.

Team leader for "Team Robomonster", a robotic, self-driving car entered in the 2005 DARPA Grand Challenge. Designed and help develop software and hardware solutions for self-driving automobile.

Awards and Achievements

 

Team Leader for “Team Robo Monster” - an entry in the 2005 DARPA Grand Challenge (http://www.grandchallenge.org). This project brought together students and faculty at Ai- Los Angeles to build a robotic automobile entry for a $2 million dollar grand prize. Entry carried through two cuts up to the final GC.
